2025 Japan Bicycle Tour, Stage 5

Stage 5:

Continuing Riding the Pacific Coast

of Shikoku & Kyushu

A ferry service is connecting the islands of Honshu and Shikoku, bypassing Osaka.

A cute welcome to the island of Shikoku.

Cape Kabuka (reminds me of laundry day) 😁

Cape Muroto at the southeastern tip of Shikoku.

Some fancy accommodation!

Some of the wildlife I was quick enough to take a picture of.

I always love to see and smell the ocean,
along with the scent of pine trees.

Perfectly manicured backyard trees.

Entrance to the food market.

"Bonito Tataki", a specialty in the Kochi region, which was suggested by our friend Akari
from the Hazzy Star Cafe in Kotoura, as well as the Sake to go with.

Bicycle only tunnels I'm the most fond of.
No traffic and it reduces the calorie requirement.

Still getting the views.

Uwajima castle

Town of Uwajima  viewed from the castle.

Another cycling enthusiast.

Waiting for the ferry.

A 3 hour Ferry ride from Yawatahama to Beppu on the Island of Kyushu.

About to get swallowed!

Tourist map

First sight of Beppu on Kyushu

Beppu Beach

Beppu Tower

Just liked the color of the mugs 😊

"Ryukyu", a local specialty.
(thinly sliced Sashimi marinated in a savory sauce)

Nakatsu Castle
(one of only a few with a saltwater moat)

The Port City of Fukuoka.

Sightseeing wheels for non rainy days.

One of many indoor malls.

Just happened to walk upon the Fukuoka Beer Festival
and couldn't resist to sample some local brews.

The Pixel tree, made up of 2'000 cubes is a sightseeing hot spot.
It's a slight challenge to focus on, after the beer festival! 😜

A 1 hour train ride from Fukuoka:

is Dazaifu Tenmangu Temple, while visiting on a rainy day.

One last "Sushi Train" meal before leaving for Korea. 😋

Leaving the "Comfort" of a dry hotel room.

Boarding the Camellia ferry.
A 6 hour cruise to Busan.

Leaving Japan:
The Nation with the most FRIENDLY, POLITE
and PATIENT people I have ever
encountered in my travels.

More from across the Sea of Japan

in Korea 😊
